Call an Auckland Plumber and upgrade to Mains Pressure.
August 4, 2021One of the best things you can do for yourself is calling an Auckland Plumber to upgrade your hot water cylinder to mains pressure. If you have ever become frustrated with the trickle that comes out of your shower head, then you may have a low-pressure hot water cylinder.
What is mains pressure?
Main’s pressure is simply the water pressure in the pipes underground. Transporting millions of litres around Auckland is no easy task, so to get it to where it needs to be promptly it is put under a high pressure of at least 200 kPa to 800 kPa.
This amount is not dangerous, if you have a tap in your house then your cold water comes out of the tap at mains pressure.
How do I know if my cylinder is low pressure or main’s?
A simple test to see whether you have a low-pressure hot water cylinder is to turn on your tap to cold. As mentioned, your cold water will come out at mains pressure. Now turn your tap to as hot as it goes. If you notice a significant decrease in pressure, then you might have a low-pressure cylinder.
Why should I upgrade?
Besides the quality of life, such as a good shower pressure, mains pressure offers significant economic advantages, as any Auckland plumber would tell you. Low pressure cylinders are often only under warranty for 5 years, whereas a mains pressure cylinders are usually under warranty for 10 years. Also, as low-pressure hot water cylinders are being phased out, replacement parts are becoming more scarce and therefore more expensive.
