How can spillage occur?
Spillage may occur when the air in the room is not adequate. In this case extra ventilation may be required. Where extractor fans, or DVS systems, or any other equipment the moves air around the home are installed, they may affect the performance of the appliance flue system. Extra permanent ventilation will need to be provided. If spillage only occurs when the fan of another appliance is in operation, then this may indicate that there is a fault with the flue, or again, inadequate ventilation in that room. In all cases of spillage caused by other fan-driven appliances, the spillage tests should be carried out with the door open into the room containing the fan and with all other doors and windows closed. The fan should be switched on and the flue test for spillage made.
A gas appliance SHOULD NOT be left connected to gas supply if spillage cannot be corrected.
